Carol Singing

Carol Singing

This Christmas, 36 of our excellent Year 2 and 3 children went out in the local community carol singing.

This Christmas, 36 of our excellent Year 2 and 3 children went out in the local community carol singing. On Tuesday 10th December, we were really proud that our children were chosen to support children with learning difficulties at their school carol concert at Emmanuel Church. The children from The Rutherford really enjoyed listening to our children sing and we all had a lovely morning.

On Tuesday 17th December, the children went to the Ashburton Park Hall to sing Christmas carols to the elderly members of our community. They sang a range of songs from Away In A Manager to Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin' Stevens, which was the audience's favourite and the children were requested to sing an encore! All the children sang beautifully to the huge audience and everyone watching enjoyed themselves. Once finished, the children chatted with the audience and even found a lady who was head teacher at Ryelands over 30 years ago! Father Christmas came to visit at the end of the performance and gave all the children a party bag. Some members of the audience made animals out of balloons for the children. It was a lovely visit and a great link made stronger in our community.

On Wednesday 18th December, they went to the Whitgift Centre in Croydon and sang Christmas carols to the Christmas shoppers. They had a good audience and sang well, especially considering the noise and the size of the room! All  of the children enjoyed themselves and their singing raised over £35 for Oasis Zimbabwe!

Well done to everyone who was involved, you all sang beautifully!
