Year 3 Trip to Crystal Palace Park

As part of Year 3's Stone Age topic, they visited Crystal Palace Park. Both classes had a brilliant trip. Woodpecker class went on Friday 27th September. They revisited the dinosaurs they had explored in Year 1 and learnt about how they evolved. Next, they were introduced to the animals that would have existed in the Stone Age. Then they travelled back in time, lived as Stone Agers, and built dens. Finally they set their own fires; learnt how to create a spark with flint and witnessed the smelting of metal.

Kingfisher class went on Monday 30th September. They went back in time to look at how life has evolved from animals living in the sea, through the prehistoric period, to the Stone Age and Iron Age. They had the opportunity to try our hand at building shelters out of raw materials including branches, twigs and leaves. They also made their own weapons using sticks and stones - they looked like modern day Robin Hoods with some of their bows and arrows! It was a great day out.
