Young Voices Concert at O2 Arena

Young Voices Concert at O2 Arena

On Wednesday, the Oasis Academy Ryelands Choir took part in the Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena. This event takes place every year and raises money for Teenage Cancer Trust. For the first time, 35 children from Years 3-6 represented our school at the concert and what an excellent job the children did!

We arrived at the O2 for lunch and rehearsals lead by David Lawrence, the Musical Coordinator for the night. We were also led by Urban Strides, who taught us all the choreography for the songs. The show began at 7pm to a packed out crowd made up of the friends and family of the 8,000 children taking part. The show was absolutely amazing and the children in our school were wonderful, shining role models for our school. The children performed a number of songs, such as Viva La Vida and We are the World. As well as a mash-up of songs from The Greatest Showman, which was definitely the crowd’s favourite. The children had the amazing opportunity to sing along to Fight Song with Beau Dermott from Britain's Got Talent, as well as 80’s icon Tony Hadley to the song Gold.

Clare and I would like to personally thank the Choir for their hard work and commitment to the Young Voice Choir; the children have attended Thursday lunchtime rehearsals since September. They have been dedicated and focused and a real pleasure to teach. I would also like to thank the parents for supporting this amazing experience.

We hope the children had an amazing time because I know the adults definitely did!
